Why so much concern on recoil?!?! The 7mm-08 has around 12 ft lbs of recoil energy and the 6.5cm has 11, that one pound is what makes or breaks what rifle to get? A 25-06 is in the same recoil discussion and a 243 is at 10lbs. All of these rifles are arguably a caliber we would start our daughters out on(mine shoots a 25-06). If it's for hunting only and you are shooting sub 500 yards either will do just fine. Check out some ballistics charts and look at KE at the ranges you are going to shoot and go from there with a quality bullet that the gun likes. You won't be disappointed with either option.

Far from a fad. The 6.5 Creedmoor is HUGE! With impressive backing from Firearms manufactures to the ammo producers. It's here to stay! It's only going to get bigger.

Because the 6.5 Creedmoor is the .260 Rem done right. The 6.5 Creedmoor is slightly shorter than the .260 and offer correct bullet seating position for a standard short action box magazine when it comes to the heavier bullets and doesn't take up powder relistate by having to seat deeper into the case as is with the .260.

The .260 is a exellent cartridge. When I built my first custom .260 years back in a 8 twist and ran the 95gr SST for Chucks. Some serious hits at those RPM's!!

I suppose those are actual benefits... But I suspect the actual, perceivable advantage is to be able to say "I'm runnin' a 6.5 Creedmoor"  to your buddies.  And the guy on the next bench at the range. And the guy on the other side of him.  And the guys at the bar.  And the bartender.  And the guy taking your order at Jack in the Box on the way home from the bar.  And your wife when you finally get home. And the dog sleeping next to you on the couch...

The way I understand it is that the creedmoor is beneficial for those who shoot factory ammo, and maybe not so much for people who are reloaders.

I think you're right.  From all that I've read and heard about it, it seems to provide great performance at a good price for factory ammo.  It's definitely here to stay.  I did say that about the 25 WSSM tho...
