Said Goodbye Sooner Than Intended
«

December 11, 2017, 01:05:30 PM »
My season ended a bit sooner than intended. I hunted my 10-year old pointer on Saturday and he hunted like a machine. When we got back home after hunting I noticed that he seemed a bit "out of it" and would not eat. Took him to the emergency vet and he was suffering from hypoglycemia that caused his temperature to drop significantly. The vet thought that since we got him there before he began experiencing seizures that he would recover, but unfortunately we lost him that night. I find some comfort knowing that he went out doing what he loved to do. It was almost like he saved his best show for last. A few pictures from our season are attached.

That's terrible! I didn't know a dog could suffer from hypoglycemia.

Oh man so sorry to hear about your loss. We are blessed to have them in our life especially when you let them do what they love and are built for but it really makes it hard when you loose them. I've said a prayer for you and yours ya bum.

Sorry to hear this. I lost one several years ago in one day. I still miss her. You will too! But every time you hunt, you will remember, They are never really gone!

Very sorry for your loss. So hard loosing such good buddies that they are. I think you are absolutely right that he went out the best way possible. Can't argue that passing away after a day of doing what you love with the ones you love is about the best you can ask.
May your grieving process be healthy.
