 If you look real close at your quote of mine you will see a smiley and a post that reads i am wrong on that.I just don't know about the korea thing.vortex makes quality glass but yet they have some that are less quality.Bushnell is generally and i am saying generally are made in Japan with German glass so  :dunno:

I also dont know if they are gonna warranty something they did not sell.  :dunno: I would not.  :twocents:

But Bushnell did sell it to the sporting goods wholesaler that sold it to me on eBay. How does that make things any different? Are you saying I should have bought it from a brick-and mortar, "big box" store, or should I have booked a flight to Overland Park, Kansas to HQ to prove that "they did" sell it to me direct?

Buy nice or buy twice

I hear ya jdb! I just wish nice wasn't so NI$$$$$CE these days. Call me a fool, but I think it's a bit ridiculous when a nice scope costs 4-5 times more than the stinkin' rifle does!

no not saying to buy from brick and mortar.I am saying you bought a cheaper than average scope from a cheaper than the manufacturer of said scope site. What was the cost of this scope from what seller on EBAY?

no not saying to buy from brick and mortar.I am saying you bought a cheaper than average scope from a cheaper than the manufacturer of said scope site. What was the cost of this scope from what seller on EBAY?

Bought it from a sporting-goods wholesaler, eBay handle "Wholesale4790" - could have been "The Sportsman's Guide" or any other generic wholesaler for all that matters (Numrich, Buds Gun Shop, all sorts of companies sell items on eBay). Bought It over a year ago and put it up for a later project, so any return dates to this outfit would have been long past; same as if I'd bought it at Cabela's or anywhere else.  Purchase price was $139.99 (They are currently running around the $160-200 range).

So since I bought from a "cheaper than the manufacturer" seller,  are you calling the Ma and Pop sporting goods stores and smaller outfits than Bushnell cheap? Shouldn't matter whether they specialize in discounts or wholesale prices or not - it's all supply and demand. I'm still not following your logic.  :bash:

I think we're getting off topic here, no offense to anyone but seller/buyer,  price of the scope and warranties aside, I just can't get past the fact that this scope is advertised as "100% Waterproof, Fogproof, and Shockproof." The warranty excuse is not acceptable to me. I bought a 100% Shockproof scope, not one that's going to be in the shop when I need it most, whether it gets repaired a hundred times for free or not!

yes a little off topic but its ok

Hows this?If you cant afford a better scope for the rifles recoil then just go iron sites until you can.A cheap scope will leave you in a bad spot, you cant rely on it for long range anyway so go iron.  :twocents:

It will be settled one way or another. Again, as I posted earlier, I've already been approved by Bushnell to send it back and will do so this coming week. Repair, replace, whatever comes back won't go on anything above a .22 and will NEVER be relied-on in the field.

If I was CEO of the Simmons company than I would honor whatever claims or warranties I made about my company's equipment, regardless of where the item was purchased. That's the standard policy of most reputable sporting-goods companies. My hunting buddy shipped his 1965 Leupold 4x (that his great-grandfather purchased) back to HQ for service/repairs, which were honored, no questions asked.

The rangefinder is a bad example, as electronic devices have circuitry that will wear out with time. In that case if I owned the Simmons company, I would warranty anything NOT related to the electronics for life, and warranty anything electronic-related for the standard 1-5 year period.

The ONLY time that I would not honor a return for repair is if the item looked as if it had been unreasonably abused or tampered-with.

A reputable sporting goods company stands behind it's product and is not misleading in its advertising, simple as that.

First Leupold does have lifetime warranty.
Second do reputable sporting good co. sell on Ebay?

Cool that you got approved but if you did why are you here bashing the brand?

Yeah man it's 2017, there are endless reputable companies who do online sales through eBay.  Cameralandny is probably the largest or at least one of the largest optics dealer in North America and they sell a ton of stuff on eBay.  I believe greatfuldoug is their seller name.  The owner of cameraland is named Doug.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton
