I do same breakin but like to use nylon brush and patches with Boretech copper remover on custom rifle.  Like shoving all the gunk out and never putting dirty snake back in - but I do use the snake for my factory hunting guns.
Good selection to test - probably all shoot great then what ?  heh

Got back from the range, love the gun

Forgot some bullets so only ran 4 types all groups at 100 yards

200 gr TLR  2"
190 gr Accubond LR 1 1/2"
180 gr Interlock 1 1/4"
180 gr Federal Trophy Bonded Tip 3/4" :IBCOOL:

It loved the TBT's. Group after group sub MOA. Looks like this is it unless my buddies reloads can shoot better

The TBT's are the most accurate factory load I've shot in my 7mm, one barely ragged hole. They used to be hard to find but I'm seeing them more lately. Good enough to make me wonder why I reload for it!

Will do.  I am going to start out with shooting superformance and then adjust from there.

I also just picked one up in .300 WM and followed a similar break in as Zwickeyman. I’m running Warne mounts and rings w/ a Leupold 3i 4.5X14X40. I didn’t bore sight or use a level. This was my first 7 shot group @ 50 yds w/ a cleaned barrel and Federal blue box SP’s, dry patching. The two touching lower lefts were a cleaning deviation after wet patching.

Following this, I setup @ 100 yds. Groups were then, all similar in the 2-2 ½” range and low. It was cold, I was a little under dressed, and should have secured the butt stock better (reticle movement).

On my next session, I ran even more cheapo Hornady American WT 180 gr InterLocks. First group was 2 ½”. Wet patched it. Second group was about the same. Didn’t touch it. Third group was well under MOA. Didn’t touch it. 4th group was well under MOA. Didn’t touch it. 5th group was a hair over MOA. By the last group, the snow was coming in sideways and I was admittedly cold, and shivering a little. Squeezed 2 last shots off…

I have a box of Berger VLD 185’s and Nosler Trophy LR 190 Accubonds I’m anxious to try. It seems like many are getting great results w/ the ELD-X’s, so am planning to try those as well. With the amount I shoot, probably going to make the jump and start reloading any day now.

This browning is replacing a stainless Ruger M77 MKII 7mm RM that I would call a 2” shooter (factory). Of all the ammo out there, it’s most likely to shoot MOA with the Federal blue box SP in 175. I think the Ruger’s prettier, more durable, and definitely prefer its bolt, action, and safety to the Browning HC Speed. However, the Browning is noticeably lighter, kicks like a school girl comparatively (muzzle break & pad), has a better trigger (adjustable), is bedded and free floated, and I’m certain it will produce custom-level groups w/ some more range time. In my opinion, it’s an out of the box beast.

JL,

It was pretty cold today, especially early. Seams like a pretty good shooter. The lowest I could get my trigger was 3.5#, a little heavier than I'm used too but I might put a lighter spring in it and try to get around 3#. Thanks for the range report

I really appreciate everyone's input the last few weeks and I'll up date next weekend when I get back to the range with some additional ammo

Yeah, with your 3/4" groups, my input was a little inadequate or redundant  :IBCOOL:.

Hoping to run the 185 and 190's through it tomorrow.

For your 3.5 lbs of pull, how far is that bolt now extruding from being flush?

3 threads left, don't dare back it out any more. Lighter spring is an option though. I might give it a try

I took mine out completely. Doesn't make it unsafe at all - actually its still higher than I'd prefer. I just tossed mine into a bag for when I replace the spring or trigger.

Jeff, you are right. I remember watching a video on how to replace the spring and the screw is an adjust not what keeps it there. thanks

rechecked the trigger pull with a buddies gauge (better quality than mine) and it reads 3#10oz. I removed the spring screw and it didn't change. It even feels heavier than that but for where its at its still a nice trigger with a very clean break

Installed a MCARBO trigger spring and have it set at 2 3/4# Perfect for me

For what its worth to anyone shooting factory ammo. The 180gr Federal TBT still shooting better groups than anything else

I'm thinking about picking one of these up. Hows the creep/over-travel?
