Keegan Wilder Phelps Calls fundraiser auction
« on: December 20, 2017, 10:23:47 AM »
Time for Hunt-WA to pull together like the amazing group of people we are. Karl Blanchard's hunting buddy Keegan Wilder and his family are going through a tough time right now and they could use Hunt-Wa's help. I know we've dug deep before in situations like this. It's time to do it again.

Have a look at his story I got from Karl.

"Keegan Wilder is not your typical 7th grader.  He's a hardened mountain mule deer hunter.  Though he's a little small in stature,  he has the heart of a lion and is just as fierce!  He had been feeling a faint pain for a few months but nothing that would have caused concern.  Almost felt like a pulled muscle.  He asked to be taken into the urgent care because he was having a hard time breathing without any pain.  He was immediately referred to Seattle Children's where the family was given the devasting news after several blood tests, xray, and ultrasounds that he indeed had cancer.  The mass is quite large behind his rib cage growing towards his lung.  He had surgery within one day where they biopsied the mass to determine the exact kind of cancer (so they know what appropriate treatment to provide for that type of cancer) and also placed a port for his chemotherapy.

He recently had to have his port moved which involved a second surgery.  He is having a difficult time keeping weight on so a feeding tube has been placed to help him get the calories he needs.

Keegan is the toughest kid you will ever meet.  From the age of 5 he has been chasing his dad and I into some of the toughest mule deer country the west has to offer.  His first deer at age 10 was over 7 miles into the Idaho backcountry.  Even though he is on round 5 of chemo and very weak, he is always smiling.

Keegan and family still have a tough road ahead of them and can use our support.  Life can be so cruel and no child should ever have to go through what Keegan has.  Let's help make this dark time a little brighter."

Jason Phelps has donated a custom made EZ Estrus elk call that we're going to auction off. All funds will go to Keegan's family. Payment will be via paypal or personal check. I will pm the details to the winning bidder when that time comes. This auction will run until 7pm Saturday evening. Here's the kicker. There's a little competition here too. Chris Pascua will auction one off on his Facebook page "Is It September Yet" and Cody Rich is going to live auction one on his "Rich Outdoors" podcast. We're going to raise more money on our call than those guys are. That's that.
Also, I heard a rumor that Coachcw is going to match the winning bid in the form of a donation, so lets make him pay up too.

Here's a few pics of Keegan and the call that we're going to auction off.

Happy bidding.

We'll this escalated quickly!  You guys are amazing!

Keegan is the toughest little *censored* you will ever meet!  He's been chasing his dad around some of the most rugged country in the West since he was just a little pot licker.  He's an American boy through and through and Wilder is as fitting of a last name as you can get.  Always smiling.  Always having fun.  This hand he has been dealt is a bad one but if there is ever a kid out there that can kick the snot out of cancer it is Keegan.

More important than money raised, is letting him know there is a whole bunch of folks in his corner thinking about him and rooting him on.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton
