Smallish pack for spotting scope and tripod?
« on: December 28, 2017, 12:28:17 PM »
I have been thinking of getting a smallish pack to carry just a large spotter (the big Kowa) and strap on the tripod somehow. Lunch and jacket would be the only other items I'd like to fit in/on there. Anyone have suggestions for something along those lines.

I have seen the Badlands scout pack, and it's nice but probably a bit smaller than I would like. Does anyone use the Badlands reactor pack? I haven't seen it in person. Is it a little larger than the Badlands scout? What works for you guys? Thanks

I was going to suggest a badlands pack.  I got one for publishing an article. Not sure which species it is

A Badlands 2200 or 2800 would be perfect I would think.  They are both very light and would have plenty of room.  My every day pack is a 2800.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

You could run a kuiu ultra 1800 and have a couple pound pack that you can still put extra gear in or pack whole quarters out with.   No matter how small I like something thats tall enough for a waist belt to work.  Some of the rucksack packs are too short to fit right with waist belt and shoulder straps.

I use the Badlands Diablo for nearly the same thing you want to use it for.  I love that pack!  Now they have the Diablo 2 which has waist belt pockets or something.

I go as light as I can and this pack worked great this year. carries my 100oz water, spotting scope, tripod, walking sticks, lunch and jacket. i  got two little cinch straps so I can secure the rifle to the bag when I want.  Easton bowhunter 2000, was comfortable for all day use with about 25 lbs in it. paid $50 for it while on sale
