Sea lions at the dalles
« on: January 08, 2018, 11:54:06 AM »
Has anybody else seen one up there this winter too?  Not many fish up there for him too eat except sturgeon and there are plenty of oversize by the dam eating dead shad right now.  Could be bad feel for sturgeon.

Well that would be unfortunate.  How do they get passed Bonneville?  Through the locks?

I have seen them before in there. They would haul in the trap to the marina around the boat houses.

I wonder if Ray is back, or maybe Buddy?  The government really cracked down on the lions once they started eating fish and tearing up the NDN's nets.

I have seen them in Stevenson up river of Bonneville. I remember one a while back hanging out in the viewing windows of the fish ladder. I'm curious if they have a count on them.

There's an article about setting trap in the marina. They also darted one of them and he kept hiding in the area below the dam and docks. Then the lion was never seen again?  You can Google search it and get more of what was reported.
