Turkey Problem

Ok so this is going to sound dumb as *censored* especially since I'm a hunter, but what the hell do you do if you have a huge turkey problem on your property. I own 15 acres north of Kettle Falls and at last count I have 64 turkeys. These things don't move if a shoot a .22 or a 12 gauge to scare them off. I can literally walk 10 feet up to these damn birds before they decide to move along.

And yes the deer blocks are gone but these birds have not left.

 Allow hunters to hunt them, specifically youth.

 If you don't allow hunting then you will get little sympathy from this site.

My uncle has the same problem, merriams really took to introduction, I read an article that turkeys are all over cities now like raccoons near Spokane. I'm sure youth hunters (and their parents) would love hunting opportunities.

Once they know where food was like your deer blocks they will flock to the same spot.  If you want pm me.  I a volunteer with the NWTF at the state level and have some good contacts for youth our first time hunters to help you out.

Yep, I agree... let some first time hunters have a crack at them. WDFW has a mentored hunt program for new hunters, as well as NWTF.

You might also try DFW and see if you can get a depredation permit to thin them out a bit.

You could live always live trap those pesky birds and relocate them to say, my property on the west side of the big mountains.  I'd figure out some way to deal with them  .  Just kidding (maybe).. no really, just kidding.  Work with Russ McDonald and see what can be done/allowed by the state for youth hunting... that is if Mrs. NavyChief08 will tolerate feathers a' flying on your property?

Gave them a call Man Tracker this afternoon. Their reply was "Since I don't have crop planted and there is no damage to land not much can be done.....Well duh no crops planted there is a foot and a half of snow on the ground here...lol. If they are still around before the youth season I'll get in contact with people and let young hunters fill their tags. Always great seeing young kids out hunting.

Please don't forget the first time adult hunters. Most are starting out on their own and don't get the advantage of family guidance or youth seasons.

It's only helpful during certain times of the year.  If you really want them gone, I suggest a dog.
