Reloading 25/45 (First time)

I have just started to collect stuff or buy stuff for reloading ,the first caliber I will be reloading is 25/45 sharps.sharps has load data on there web site , but it does not say which primer to use ,i bought cci #400 small rifle primers, are these good primers for semi-auto, or for 223 rifles as long as primer is seated right .And would it be wrong to use some of the loading data from 6x45 to use for 25/45 you know as long as you start on the low end ,and work your way up.

But the first load I'm gonna try is.
87 grain 25cal hotcore softpoint
25 grain A2200 powder
Which is sharps load data , trying to reproduce there factory ammo, Anyway any tips ,tricks,or suggestions will be taken thanks for any response.Remember I'm very new to reloading.

Well to be honest, I had to look up 25/45 Sharps. It was not listed in any of my reloading manuals, no real surprise there, with all the news stuff popping up, on a daily basis it seems lately. Just follow the Sharps load data for that caliber, you will be fine. Now that I have been to the Sharps website, it appears to be a AR platform you are loading for. Make sure that the primers are seated to correct depth, this should alleviate your slam fire concerns, I'm assuming that why you had a question about the primers. There are other on here that load for AR's more that I and will chime in I'm sure.

Well did it ,reloaded my own ammo for the first time in my life ,and feeling pretty damm good about .Got out today and shot some of it to check for over pressure,and things of that nature don't really have any pics to show ,i have those stickem targets ,it was so cold they wouldn't stick,so I went with small water bottles I had in truck from deer season that where frozen

Anyway load #1
75 grain Sierra hollow points
26 grain of a2200 powder
400 cci small rifle primers
Miltary lake city brass
Kills water bottles at 100 yards I'm gonna use these for coyote hunting needed to check function and accuracy before putting them in the mag.

Load#2
87 grain hotcor soft points
26 grain of a2200
400 cal small rifle primers
Sharps federal 25/45 brass

Shoot good killed a few water bottles with these as well ,but I did have some extraction marks on the brass and wanted to know if that was a sign of over pressure in semi auto guns,i still need to check my bolt face ,all the primers look ok , but I'm not an expert,since first time reloading,next time out for practice I will get some shots on paper with pics.I could put some pics of spent primer cases vs factory loaded ammo up so you guys could let me know.

Here's a few target from shoot today,all with load #1 on above post ,target at 100 yrds,seems like my first shot on groups is always bullseye then my groups open up not sure if it me or barrel warm up :dunno:Barrel has only had 70 rounds though it , So I consider barrel break in at 100 rounds.Rifle rest is just the side of pickup so brass can fly into back of truck and not snow.Will be doing a lot more shooting and getting a crono  this summer.Any loads I put on here may shoot good in my gun but load at your own risk.Any comments or advise is welcomed.

I guess my biggest question is do you always get your best shots on a cold bore,Then do you think I should clean barrel again it was done at about 30 rounds , or do you believe in cleaning durring break in.

You often get a different point of impact with a cold bore, that doesn’t make it better or worse, just different.

As for cleaning during break in a new rifle may have metal bits from tooling that come loose after a shot or 2 or 5, it’s best to clean them out ASAP.   This is the only part of “breaking in” a barrel that makes any sense to me.
