Goose hunt
« on: January 06, 2018, 06:46:38 AM »
I have a lifelong friend (like a brother) that lives in Billings he's an avid goose hunter. For Christmas this year I bought my boys plane tickets so that next weekend we can go see him and shoot some geese. Its been super cold there and all the fields that he has permission on have been void of any geese. The weather is warming up and we are hoping that will change the picture there. Last year they limited out every weekend until it closed, this year is a totally different situation. :chuckle: :chuckle:
My son has been blowing his damn goose call nonstop since Christmas. My wife is super cool and she understands that there is only one way to get better......
But come on?

Cross your fingers for us if you would and hopefully I'll post up some pic's of some MT geese.
Lead em if they're running.

I hope your friend over there has a rifle.  Worst case he can take your boys coyote calling.     Good luck to them with geese.

That is so funny.
Yesterday we were talking and I told him that we are just looking forward to the trip no matter what. He said yeah and worse case scenario we can call in some yotes for the boys.

It was such a cool experience for them. My older son did a ton of calling and on the second day they needed a little more persuasion to come in. My buddy that we were visiting let my son do it all giving him some pointers. It was really cool (confidence builder) for him.
My younger boy said that it was the best trip he had ever taken in his life, "better than California". We all laughed and said, "better than Disneyland?"
My older boy replied, "This is the happiest place on earth!"

Sounds like you just created a couple of duck/goose junkies! Hunting partners for life. They will cherish those memories the rest of their life. Great work raising the next generation right.

Sounds like a great friend.  I know how expensive it is to fly into / out of Billings, as my daughter lives there.  She spends a lot of money on plane tickets whenever she flies somewhere.

Nice pictures.  I am glad your boys and your buddy got into the honkers.
