Sitting on 6 wyoming antelope points
«

Time to cash in my 6 antelope points. I do a lot of searching on the net, and just wondering what area the Antelope hunters think I should cash my points in on. I also have 3 deer points and would love to go on a combo hunt. Only catch is I want both areas to be relatively close to each other. Any thought and direction would be awesome. I have a few ideas on antelope areas, but not sure on the deer. Antelope is going to be my priority, with deer a distant 2nd. DC

This year was the first time I ever hunted Antelope, so take my advice as you wish, but my buddy and I just hunted unit 78 at the beginning of October. Like I said, I was a first, but after the hunt I couldn't imagine better. We only hunted 3 hours on Wednesday the 4th, all day Thursday, and buddy tagged on Friday at 8:30 am, and we saw hundreds of Goats. Most of the unit is public (BLM) and very accessible. If you stay in Cody, you will be hunting and seeing lots of bucks less that 5 minutes out of town. Like I said, it was our first time, but I PROMISE you if you draw, you wont be disappointed

As far as deer go, General e tag will get me unit 128 starting Oct 1. Buck muley, or any whitetail. It appears that it is a great rut hunt later in the yr. I cant find much out about the Oct. 1 season. Anybody have any info on it? I have a couple antelope units i'm looking at that would be fairy close to 128.

Just apply with me for antelope
I’ve shot maybe 8 In Wyoming. On a more serious note next year the odds will be off due to the price increase so counting on drawing an antelope and deer tag next to each other will be tuff. I have been burnt on this myself. But I got a huge antelope, but didn’t draw my deer tag.
As far the deer 3points may get you into H if your a seasoned high country hunter that can treat you well. If not K can be a good hunt

So as it turns out my brother wants to go (which is awesome) the only problem is he has 4 goat points to my 6 this will equal 5 points for us. I had my unit figures out and probably wont get it with 5 points so I will need to do more research for 100 percent regular draw with 5 points. The upside is he did have 5 deer points to my 3, so if we do a deer hunt also I have 4 points now. Any suggestions for 5 antelope points and 4 deer points?

With 5 antelope and 4 deer I think you could draw antelope area 65 (100%), and deer area 37 (close to 100%). Hunt the antelope area for 3-4 days then head north a little bit and be there on the 15th for the deer opener in 37.
128 early on the general E tag was a tough hunt imo, a lot of the animals seemed to be up on wilderness areas. I guess the late season is a different story.

Just my personal opinion but unless you know a deer unit already, or are confident in your ability to find good bucks in early October I would just draw goat tags and spend your time enjoying all that is antelope hunting.
Mature mule deer can be tough to find that time of year. Especially in low point units. I'll be in WY for speed goats as well this year. Good luck on whatever tag/tags you end up with

I have figured out where I'm going to apply, and it looks like I will probably draw a couple muley doe tags to add to the meat haul. I talked with one of the Eastman guys at the sportsman show and he seemed to think my plan was worth going after. I then talk to the game warden in the area, and he conforms my plan. I have since purchased a couple paper maps, onx maps, and a new Howa 25-06 to do the honors come sept. Now I guess I just need to draw. I will wait to have the seasons confirmed before I apply, sounds like first of May.

Sounds like it should be a good time. I’m a few years away from wanting to do something very similar.
