Bull with something on it's leg
« on: January 08, 2018, 09:55:04 AM »
This is from 6-28-17

This is from 10-2-17

When I saw the first video last June I didn't think much about it, except that this guy was in a place that has very few elk. (Never a cow on camera in 3 years and only 2 bulls ever.)

But the video in October has lower grass and you can see he's dragging a rope or something.

Did you report it to WDFW?

They might come out and try to tranquilize it and remove it if it still in the area, couldn't hurt to try anyway.

I haven't had him on camera since the middle of October. I finally checked that camera yesterday after months. Do you think it's still worth reporting?

He may have been killed during one of the seasons between then and now, so who knows?

It would have been good if you had done it at the time, but not now since you haven't seen him in that long, but if he were to show again I would.

The first video reminds me of how elk move with hoof disease.

Hey, JohnD,
Any updates on this elk in the video?

He hasn't showed up again after that last video. I'm going to check the camera again tomorrow, maybe he'll still be around.

Not likely. In the first place traps are never anchored with rope. Second, any trap that is legal with a permit an elk would pull out of easily. Third if it was an illegal trap it would have to be big enough to see it in the video to not be shed by the elk.
