Newbie to turkey hunting-Which call to buy?

What call do I want to buy for bringing in the turkeys? I have not started to look into them yet, But I want a good idea where to start.

I would go with a slate or box call. You might want more than one, birds may respond to one better than another on a given day. Both a slate call and box call are easy to use.

Also the push button call is easy to use! Might want to give one of them a try to!

Go with a Box call, a slate can be complicated when not conditioned right.  A box is easy to use and make the different sounds with such as purrs, yelps and cackles.  You don't need to get an expensive call, just pick up a cheap one from Primos or HS Strut.  Another good thing about a box is its much easier to control the volume of the call, which is nice for windy weather.  When the wind is blowing hard just add a bit more pressure on the paddle to increase the volume to break through the wind.

for a newbie i would say a push button or a box call ( for push button calls i would buy the egg it does really nice purrs and yelps but any this will work)

I started a couple of years ago and began reading all the magazines and watching the Turkey hunting shows. I started out with a box call and then a slate (glass actually - one that was supposedly works in the rain - Ha). Then I got my first Primos diaphram call with the CD that teaches you how to use them. The big advantage of the mouth call is that it keeps your hands free and with your mask, the Turkey's can't really see you calling. I spent a couple of months practicing on my way to work with the CD in my car CD player. I listened to the instructions every chance I could and practiced out on the porch. The neighbors still haven't figured out what that noise is. So I've gotten pretty good, being able to do about 5 standard calls. If you can use the mouth calls it really is handy but it takes quite a bit of time to become proficient. You have about 5 weeks so start today. Good luck.

For simplicity, a push button call works the easiest.... Do I own one... NOPE !  Dont like em.   
But my buddy pulled one out of his vest one year when we had a stubborn tom.... Guess what... He came in like he was on a string. 
Box calls are fairly easy also.  But can present some problems if not used correctly.
One of the biggest things is calling too loudly, or out of cadence.    Get yourself some calling CD's and pay attention.  Or start watching some good hunting shows, which are on a lot lately.

I started out with a mouth call.  I also have a slate and box.  I use my slate and mouths the most, I can get the best tones out of them.  A mouth call is easy to use once you figure out how it works which is the frustrating part.
