Another KOMO broadcasting legend passes
« on: January 13, 2018, 08:17:13 AM »
Keith Jackson passes at 89.  He was a legend in sports broadcast, and I remember him as a local broadcaster in Seattle.  When he left, he was replaced by Bruce King (also recently deceased).  They were similar enough in appearance that it caused by brain some confusion.

Will be missed. Was a great College football announcer. Some of his legendary championship calls were Ohio St vs Miami in 2OT and USC vs Texas. Both great games.

IMO he was the best that ever called a game, what a voice. I loved the way he described players, the one I remember most was a game between LSU and Notre Dame I believe, this was back in the late 70,s or early 80,s I think, LSU had a def. lineman that was just dominating the Irish o.line, nobody could contain this guy. Jackson described him during one play as a "290lb big ugly  out of Baton Rouge thats as quick as a panther". Loved the way he called a game.... RIP Mr. Jackson.

"Whoooaaa Nellie! We gotta barn burner going on here today!"

Keith Jackson was the best. Saturdays were just not the same when he retired.

He did ABC,s Wild World Of Sports also didn't he, "The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat", that poor ski jumper crashed and burned a thousand times at the beginning of that show every week,  over all those years it was on.
