Last hunt of the year...
« on: January 15, 2018, 05:55:25 PM »
Well didn't make it out as much as I would have liked, but had some decent hunts this year.  Work is most likely going to make it this the last hunt of the year.  Probably the slowest day I had on ducks this year, but still managed to almost scratch a 3 man, and some bonus geese in the mix.  Can't complain when your day starts with a double on banded honkers and then a banded greenhead, for the next bird of the day.  Best of luck to everyone rounding out the season, shoot straight and be safe!!

Nice Hunt!
Were the Canada's banded locally, or migrators?

Mmmm they were local for the most part.  They were banded in 2011 about fifty miles north of our property.  Kind of an interesting story, shot a banded one in 2013, two in 2015, and those two Sunday from the same blind four bands numbers are only six numbers apart between all four and banded the same day in the same location. The other one from Sunday was banded the same location as the others so I'm sure it was off spring since it was with one banded in the original 2011 group.  So I guess they migrate 50 or so miles from summer to winter pretty religiously.
