Here's a close encounter I had in June.  I spotted mom from a 150 yards out while I was checking seedlings, which the deer had been destroying all Spring.  I worked my way up to her area, hoping to just scare her to get her off the property and away from the seedlings.  I lost my motivation once I saw she had fawns with her:
