That's crazy.

Cracks me up the guy is wondering why they sued him.  In my view $300k is a pretty light amount given what happened.

The guy admits he was sitting down while driving the boat and couldn't see over the dash, so not too surprising he can't understand how only being hurt a little is grounds to get sued...  talk about a complete disconnect from reality!

Wild video to watch.
The driver is dumbfounded as to why he is being sued. Wait til the other 2 file their suits, its gonna be over $1 million. the most damning evidence in my opinion is the S-I-L stating he was using his phone  :bash:

I often take my 3 little kids fishing with me.  2 5 year olds and a 2 year old.  They always wear life jackets, but I don't know if I could round them all up and get them out of the boat in time if I was in that situation.  The thought of having my kids run over because some idiot isn't watching where they are driving is completely terrifying.

He probably only had 300k liability coverage. Attorneys going for the low hanging fruit...

My first reaction would have been to jump on my throttle and hope I had a good hole shot....

I've never had that close of a call, but some of these a-holes with boats either don't pay a lot of attention to people fishing or just don't give a damn as they have blown by me full speed at less than 30 yards while I am drifting.

That's some incredible footage, a miracle no one was killed or severely injured.

I'm surprised no one is calling for a ban on high powered motors, or a limit on the amount of gas you can carry.

The good thing about this was nobody was hurt. The sad thing is how unregulated boating is. Your average boater can take an online course, pass and be fully legal to operate a powerboat without actually proving to a human instructor they can safely operate the vessel. Or even get the boat down the ramp to the water for the matter. Could you imagine the carnage if drivers licenses were that easy to obtain? There is something about bodies of water that brings the dumb out in people.
If you want to make it,
you can't fake it,
you gotta live it.

I was out on the water that day and the house we were staying in was owned by the disabled guy driving the Trophy.  Clueless doesn't even begin to describe this man.  No remorse whatsoever.  He had the nerve to say that "they had plenty of time to get out of his way."  His boat was pretty trashed too, but nothing like that charter boat.  Lucky nobody froze and stayed in the boat.

Wow.... crazy scary.

Saw something similar on lake Washington with an absolute idiot flying and swerving in his big old boat thru all the boat traffic until he absolutely rammed a boat like in the video.

When my folks were on the fire department they responded to multiple drunks running aground on the rock shelf east of the small island.

I'm assuming they're not on the department anymore. If they were they wouldn't have any peace and quiet these days, they'd be out on calls every other day, all weekend long too, if they were.

We have our share of idiots up here, too.
We were in a thick fog bank 3 years ago so we were mooching for salmon when out of the back comes two boats on step! Apparently they figured their radar let them see real time. The first swerved and the second one, who was on the ass of the other cut throttle and did the same. We were speechless.

This summer we're anchored between 150-200 ft of water on a point. Lots of room to go around us and others anchored to the north(miles of room) but no, some guides, regular boats and a few commercial have to squirrel their way between the "anchored" on step! I just don't understand.
One day my wife said: is it a rule the bigger the boat the bigger the ass hole?".

Our rule when out on the water is give way, I run most days with lights on unless it's sunny, use horn occasionally at anchor when we see a boat approach and no indication they have seen us. Had a very large seiner heading at us last summer apparently the skipper had it on auto pilot didn't turn until 50-30 yards away. I've got 600' of anchor line with a least 300 out or scope so getting out of the way isn't an option. My wife almost shot a flare at their boat.
