OnX Map Hunt chip update
« on: January 21, 2018, 07:13:40 PM »
I purchased 2 WA chips about 2 years ago.  My wife and I both run GPS's while in the field in case we split and like the redundancy in case one goes down.  I've never updated the map information and plan to do so this week.  This is probably a stupid question but can you update more than one chip under the same account?  If I set up for the "Premium" account for WA state I'm assuming that gives me the ability to update only one chip?  Doesn't seem financially viable to allow multiple chips to update for $30 / year.

Also looking to add 2 Oregon map chips for this year.  This may be getting a little pricey!

New to the membership and updates so thought I would ask for any input / feedback.

I would call them tomorrow, their customer service is very good. They sent me a new chip last year when something went haywire while doing an update no questions just had me send the old one back.  :twocents:

It used to be that each chip had to be registered so you couldn't do, but when I got the app membership it didn't even verify my chip before allowing me to download the update. You could always try it and see. If it won't let you update both on the same account you always have option to buy another membership or one of you use a smart phone in the field.

Seemed to have work.  I updated both chips this morning.  Not trying to make them loose money but it is nice you can update more than one chip at least.  Also ordered my 2 Oregon chips so that should help $$$

It says free chip updates with membership, I wouldn't think twice about it. Would be whole new ethical issue if you bought a membership and updated all your friends chips for them.

GPS updates, same deal, got a couple older onx installs, looking to update, looks like you can only do it if you buy a subscription, so if you pay for the one month sub, update your gps then cancel, your good to go? I dont see a point in paying for a year when its only used for a month..   :dunno:
