Dutch Baby's. Anyone make them?
« on: January 25, 2018, 05:59:56 PM »
I've been making a bunch of them.  The family loves them.  No pics at the moment.  Just wondering if anyone else makes them?

a big fluffy pancake.  like a german pancake.  You pour all the mix in a dutch oven or pie pan and bake it.

I'll have to look into these. Sounds like they would be good with sunny side up eggs on top?

We make them on occasion. Mix some powder sugar and cream cheese together and spread it on top and put some raspberries on top. Delicious.

They're really good with anything on top really.  They do have a sweet base but that shouldn't stop you

Here's the recipe I use.  I use my #9 cast iron pan

https://altonbrown.com/dutch-baby-pancake-recipe/

Mine come out kind of flat once removed from the oven but it's ok by me.  You can substitute bread flour to make a really fluffy one.

Good deal. I love those things.
I used to go to a place in Seattle long ago...They served them up with lemon juice, ricotta, powdered sugar, and syrup.
Looks like I have a project ahead.

I made one for the first time a couple weeks ago. Wife LOVED it. Made one last night for dessert. So easy to make. I'm gonna try a savory one sometime.

They are the best, one of my birthday traditions. About the only useful thing I learned in 7th grade home economics class.
