Bella’s weekend work
« on: January 28, 2018, 09:42:06 PM »
This weekend was all for my Bella.  I got the OK from her Oncologist to take her hunting.  In two days she retrieved 38 birds for the 3 of us.  She had a ball.  She was so excited she was eagerly talking to me as we arrived at the site each morning.  I wanted to let her do what she was bred to do (before the end of the season) just in case her newest round of chemo doesn’t drive her cancer into remission.  She made some impressive retrieves over the last couple of days.

 I love the way they know whats going on, and what is in store. I didn't get to hunt my dog this year at all, and it pained me. Seeing how excited she would get in the morning when we land the boat and could hear ducks on the pond we were about to jump.

I hope Bella gets many more years of hunting and retrieving!

It's such a gratifying feeling when you can watch the dogs work. Nice haul. And the pond looks fun to hunt.
Is it waterfowl season yet..............

Looks like some good shoots.

Yes, we ended the season with some good shoots to be sure.

The last two days though were for my pup.  She had been barred from hunting this season due to the cancer and chemo messing with her white blood cell counts among other things.  It was just in the week before the end of the season that her system was healthy enough to allow the hunt with the Oncologists blessing.

The hunt improved her mood amazingly.  She finally was able to get out in the field this season and do what she loves.  Now we just gotta beat the cancer.
