Good Subaru shops in Spokane
« on: February 02, 2018, 09:00:13 PM »
Well I think the wife’s 2010 forester Head gaskets went... leaking oil on the garage. Going to the dealer tomorrow to get checked out but also wanted to see if anyone on here had reccomendations for a good Subaru repair shop in Spokane?

Hopkins Subaru on Nevada.  The lead tech Dave has been there over 20 years.

THanks for the heads ups.
Are there other major issues with these cars? Or will this take care of major stuff?

Planning on doing water pump and timing belt and tensioner at the same time. Probably due for plugs too.

Man this sucks!  :'(

Oil leaks could be the plug boots, valve cover gaskets, washers, sold as a set for about $35.

Another area for leaks is the oil cooler, sits under oil filter, if design remains similar to 2005.

There may be another common oil leak source, but can't recall.

Drop the plastic fairing under the engine, and check.

If your going for head gaskets, timing belt and water pump are good idea.

If you're due for timing belt do it or pony up. Broke belt and bent valves are much more pricy.

Other than that, we had an ac compressor go, which is a pricey repair.

This one doesn’t have the oil cooler. The filter threads roghrbinto the engine block. I am just assuming head gaskets I guess. It’s leaking out both sides and best I can tell looking under it it is coming from the head block seem

There's a really good one in CDA.  Can't remember the name right now.

Clean it up real good with some brake cleaner, after removing that fairing, put down some paper towels and find the leaks.

Stuff coming down from up high might collect on the head/block interface.

The wife took the car to he looked at today at the dealer. It was exactly what we expected. They also found issues with the front control arms ( I thought I’ve heard some clunking but could never find it)
After consulting with coachcw I think we’re going to have it all fixed up at the dealer.

I just wish coaches shop was closer to us!

When I had a sub, the boys at Shogrens on NW blvd did all my work. Don't think the brand is anything special that needs foreign car experience?

Well just noticed i'm a couple weeks late posting. LOL
you probably have it fixed by now

Too bad you weren't in Seattle where all the tree huggers have them plenty of shops there.

Or Idaho or Montana, as lots of people in those states drive Subarus, whether they’re tree huggers, lesbians, or none of the above.
