My Ruger 10/22 is what I usually bring. I've been on the lookout for a nice compact 223 or 22-250 lately. Something with a little more reach.

If I am not carrying a rifle I bring a Ruger Mk IV 22/45 pistol. Easy shooting and fairly accurate. When I am back in the world I carry a compact .45 or .38 snubby. I like my woods pistol to be one that is fairly impervious  to rain or rough treatment. Polymer frames and aluminum
parts help with that.

For years I carried a 204 Ruger outside of big game season along with a 7mm TCU Contender for anything a little bigger. Ever since I had the little CZ 527 in 6.5 Grendel built though, it's been my go to walk about gun backed up with a Ruger Mk III Hunter.

I knew you were an "old growth operator", out there checking trail cams and scouting in the back country while still being prepared to take a sweet instagram pic with your gear.

Are you sure it's not a 6.5 Creedmoor?

I'll have to check with my overpaid gunsmith.

It may take a while as he had some "legal" issues in Vegas.

Honestly, I haven't had the time to shoot the rifle. Photo shoots, shameless social media posts and my part time gig at the local fine dining establishment have taken their toll.
