Hawke scopes?
« on: February 06, 2018, 09:23:49 PM »
Does anybody have any experience with the Hawke brand of scopes, and any inputs positive or negative?

Not looking for suggestions about other brands, just any feedack from folks with hands-on experience with Hawke scopes.   Specifically the Hawk Vantage line.

They're a UK company, although do have a division in Indiana.   Their higher end models such as Frontier and Endurance get good reviews.  There are limited reviews on the low cost no-frills Vantage line, other than comment sections of Optics Planet, Amazon, etc. but those are generally positive reviews.

So thought I'd see if anybody on here had hands-on experience with one.

This is an old post, but a good question. I was looking online today at a 4-12x40 Hawke scope. Good price, looks like a luxury brand from Great Britain. Wondering if they are up there with Leupold, Vortex, Burris??? I'm in the scope market, that the Hawke had a pretty good price on it for what they are offering...
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

They range from pretty good to mediocre optically and everywhere in between.  The better ones are good and all of them seem to stand up to spring piston Airgun recoil.  If they will take that abuse they will take anything a HP rifle will hand out. I’ve got a couple of their higher end scopes and like them quite well.  Airgun enthusiasts impress me as rather indifferent to optical quality in general and many of them praise scopes that I wouldn’t have around.  Reviews on Airgun sites therefore are suspect to me.

My only suggestion would be to look for reviews on Airgun sites, and be open but skeptical.  Here’s a pro tip, the first syllable saying that an owner has looked through any mid level or below optic next to a Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss, or other alpha optic and it is just as good optically or even in the same ballpark… they are not credible.  Period.  Full stop.

The Vantage line is popular enough that it is mentioned frequently enough.
