Idaho wolf control board seeks another $400K next year to kill problem wolves

How do wolves pad the wallets of LEOs? I can't remember the last time a wolf paid me? Or any animal to that point 

Funding i would think.The wolf loving community has been shoveling money in all directions for it.I am certain that the LEO'S have gotten their hands on some of it from either more officers or just new equipment to cover their areas either way it is funding.

LEO's investigate predation on livestock-I was on a fresh wolf killed calf, LEO showed up to helped scott fitkin search for coyote tracks, anything but a wolf, they found a coyote track and came out with coyote kill. Even though there was fresh wolf scat and wolf tracks where the calf was first attack. So yep, LEO's do benefit from wolves.

Ok so LEOs do investigations, duh.

How exactly does the LEO benefit? They certainly aren't paid more.

As time goes on and there are less areas to hunt in WA, and more predator/human conflicts, will the responsibility of handling the calls go to LEO's?

Are you saying that the wdfw leo's are not or were not given any new equipment to investigate or deal with wolf conflicts or wolf poaching at all?I find that very hard to believe.

Many county sheriffs have involvement with wolf issues, especially in the Midwest.  I predict the same will expand here beyond current involvement.  Great election subject for the northeast.

What new equipment would be needed? The metal detector that can find the bullet in the elk works just as good on a wolf.

The WDFW Enforcement program has had a big change the past 5-10 for problem wildlife issues. It used to be that the LEOs would handle all of the calls (from the elk are eating my orchard to a cougar killing a mountain biker). Now the LEOs only get involved with the most serious incidents. The vast majority of the rest of the incidents are going to the "Wildlife Conflict Specialists" who tend to have more of a bio background then LE.

WDFW basically realized they don't need LEOs to handle the vast majority of problem wildlife calls and these calls take them away from stopping poachers.

Sad difference between ID and WA is the people of Idaho voted out their pro-wolf people in IDFG, WA is different, we need to vote out the governor in order to change the outcome.

We already know what happen to the Lolo elk herd etc.

Probably aren't going to need too many LEO's before long, as the wolves continue to expand there won't be much left to poach.

It wasn't that long ago that a wildlife conflict specialist ruled on wolves attacking some dogs in the Methow, scott fitkin wanted to blame the attack on cougar, but the specialist said NO, as it was defiantly wolves. From my understanding the specialist said from then on there wasn't going to be anymore lying. Kind of gave everyone hope that WDF&wolves were going to start being honest.

 I do know that there have been several wolf attacks on dogs in the Methow that were never reported to the public, we only found out through people coming forward, and of course before the C. specialist came along the USFWS and WDFW both lied about livestock predation by wolves in the Methow.

Evidently the C. specialist does not go to all wolf predation sites, as it was scott fitkin and crew who lied about the wolf predation of a calf a few hundred yards outside of Twisp. So much for honesty.
