Kids ATV
« on: February 14, 2018, 12:54:06 PM »
I'm looking around on the internet, and I see these 5-700 kid atvs. Anyone here ever buy one? I know the saying, you get what you pay for, just looking for a starter toy for my 10,8, and 4 year old. I'm thinking of surprising them(and my wife) with one for their birthday. ANy help appreciated.

This looks cool, don’t know anything about the brand, mom and 10 yo with supervision could handle this.

Looks a little rough probably could get him down to $5-600.

Just would make sure it runs. ATV/Motorcycles are pretty easy to work on.

When my kids were little we ended up buying two new motorcycles, and one used. Tough sometimes to find kids stuff used.

We have a Chinese knockoff and a name brand quad in youth size. For a first timer yard machine or in my case horse pasture get the no name and same the 1000 dollars per machine. Upgrade when they stop growing so rapidly.  Off brand parts are super cheap and maintenance has been  the same for both.  Avoid cheap fuel and they run great year around.

We had one, still have it, if you are interested in trying to get it running, you can have it.  It was a decent little machine but I know nothing about maintenance/repairs on these and the kids grew out of it.  Honestly, I can't remember what was wrong with it.  It has cosmetic issues as it has been sitting out on the edge of my carport for years.

We have one of the $600.00 Chinese knock offs that the grandkids drive all around our property.  They beat it pretty hard all last summer and it keeps on working.  We keep the speed restricted down pretty well and I think they get as much fun out of it as they would a more expensive model.  I have two bigger quads for running back and forth to the lake and I suspect they'll be moving up to them pretty soon, so didn't want to put a lot of money into something they'd only use for a year or two (albeit more grandkids on the way so may end up buying another one so they don't keep fighting over who gets to ride).  We did purchase a very good helmet, knee pads and gloves for them though and insist they wear when they ride.

Just my opinion, but I would buy the kids motorcycles not quads.

Having a quad squash in a crash is more dangerous then tipping over on a motorcycle.

Only having 2 wheels to be stable on is scary, especially if you knew my kids... It's my wife's genes!!!!! I just thought it would be fun for them, if they trash it in a year or 2, I'm only out 5-600 bucks. Plus we live on 3 1/4 acres, back part is pasture. they can hopefully get out there and off the computers.

Had a new Jetmoto for kids.  It is crap plain and simple. Don't do it unless ya like fixing it, often. Buy used quality.

KYMCO's aren't bad for a starter machine. I have a friend who's a dealer and sells quite a few of them in Colville. He also owns the Arctic Cat dealership in Deer Park.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

Those Chinese ones have come a long way man. My kids 50cc Chinese quad runs better and has way less issues than my Honda does. And parts are cheap
