Hell, I知 30, with 16 bull and 16 quality and I知 looking for out of state guided elk hunts as well, no faith in our draw. Could be another 16 years.

If only 13 points figure You have less than average chance given the way points are squared and average odds are like 1:100 or less so do the math...... :(

I hunted Wyoming area 7 last year with Elk Mountain Outfitters - not a fancy lodge hunt but comfortable and lots of nice bulls to hunt
I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies

I am planning a guided, out of state, elk hunt in the next couple years to basically guarantee I get a solid bull before I die.....LOL!!!   If / When I do draw in this state it will by my second chance at a nice bull.   I have a bucket list that needs to start getting checked off.....life is to short to waste time.

My kids are also starting to hunt in the next year or two, so I suspect my trigger time will drop dramatically.  At this point in my hunting career, I am more excited about my kids dropping the hammer on animals.  I will be the camp pack mule, cook, gutter, skinner, etc.  If I get one after my kids that will be the icing on the cake.  I just need to get my bull and a moose before I die......hopefully that gives me a few years.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

I have been researching everyone suggestions and all are viable.  Anyone with relevant, first hand experience at any of the suggestions would be great.

If you go kill a nice bull out of state it値l probably take some pressure off you too when you do actually draw a decent elk tag.

Pennsylvania; my home state.  Decent chance of a 350-400 inch bull only about 2 hours from my home stomping grounds.  Plus I can take a couple friends; and one would be my guide.  Of course I'd have to get drawn for it first.

I would love an Oklahoma Bull tag as well.
Only a quota of 30 this year. Last year 100% success rate.
Some seriously huge bulls in the wilderness areas.

Look to where the largest bulls are coming from over the years and find a good guide in Montana

The Vancouver island always seems really cool to me. I don't think there's alot of 340" bulls though.

Surprised only one person mentioned the Bob Marshall - I've always wanted to do a September hunt in there, just to  get back into all that Wilderness. Seems to me that's a pretty unique location. You're not going to take a huge bull, but I think you could have a reasonable chance at taking one worth putting on the wall, 300-320?. If the question was just for getting the BIGGEST bull, I'd go with New Mexico or Arizona, but for the overall experience of a true pack-in, wilderness hunt, I'd go with the Bob Marshall.

I think I would look into British Columbia, as well as Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

As much as I would love to have a trophy of that magnitude, I am not willing to pay 20K for a bull.  I would rather buy two or three hunts for 6K-10K and harvest 300-350 class bulls.  Those are some darn nice bulls though.

reality is this hunt will likely take place in the next 2-3 years so I have a little time to plan.  I want a reputable ranch / guide.
