I think Mike Johnson just made a friend
« on: February 26, 2018, 08:31:39 AM »
I just got my build sheet from mike at HCA, and it looks fantastic. Peer pressure has once again found a home in my wallet, in the form of a HCA 338 Norma. All this talk of customs finally wore me down, and my wife loves me for it. :IBCOOL:

300 grain pills, either Sierra, or Berger. As far as glass goes, probably some thing in the neighborhood of  a Leupold  VX6,  4x24, or 3x18. So many questions and i only have about 6 months to figure it out.

  6 months seems like plenty of time at first, until you really start to think about all that needs to be done  :yike:

I'm sure you won't be disappointed, have a few HCA rifles and they all are good running rifles.

Woohoo!!!!  You won't be disappointed!  He builds amazing guns!  I've shot more than a few of his builds and they are all top notch.  I've got a .243 AI in the works as we speak

It should be sweet, I hunt out of state every year, it's just always with archery gear. I have some long range gear, but nothing as purpose built as this, I do now need some open country to stretch her legs. Since i only have 14 points for WA elk that's probably not in the cards for a few years.

I built mine after seeing 15 big bulls at 1000 yards in draw unit on buddys tag and no way to see them if closer.   Those big bulls late season wind you at a half mile in those canyons with wind swirl.

Make sure to tell mike you are an engineer (even if your not)  and really want to have lots of input on your new gun! He loves making guns for engineers

Thanks for the kind words!  Matt I sent you an email today, excited to get this build rolling for you, the Norma is a great choice! :)

I was the same way with my first one... now I make it a point to pester him a bit  :chuckle:

Engineers are the BEST customers!!!  They always have lots of money and usually don't catch on that I overcharge them.... ;)

I bug him 5 times a day and try and change my order once a week or so :chuckle:

You're just angling to get yours built before BullBlasters!  6Creed vs 243 was the original war, you upped the stakes when you went Ackley...
