Since we "kinda" derailed DoubleJ's Challenger thread, figured I'd start this to make amends  :chuckle:

Do you own a classic ride?  If so, what is it and please post a pic and tell us a bit about it.  If you don't own one, what "would" you own if you got one.

My first car was a '69 Ford Fairlane.
Bought it for $300 drove it for about 6 years and sold it for $300. Had a pretty good case of rustworms on the quarter panels by then, but had a sweet running 302 with dual exhaust and glass pacs.
I wouldn't mind having it back as a project car.

I've had a bunch of classic cars and trucks, but the one I lusted after the most and never could afford (especially now) was a 1963 Corvette split window coupe, black with a red interior.

My Dad had a 1966 Shelby GT 350, 1968 Shelby GT 500 KR and a 1972 Boss Mustang.  He sold the 2 Shelby's a few weeks before I got my learner's permit.  He told me "Boy, you may hate me for this but I am saving your life."  He did give me the Mustang though.   I also had a 1969 Torino Fastback. Wish I still had any one of them.

I had a 69 Fairlane; it was my first car also. I had some money saved from baling hay that summerand pop pitched in the rest so I could get it (believe it cost $500; that was in 1977).  Was as four door, light blue, 289, 3 on the tree  ;).

Mine was 2 door coupe. I'll just say fit and finish are sooooo much better on new cars/trucks and ride/quietness is lightyears better than that car. Haha.
Maybe that is why old cars are so fun

I'd love a classic Lambo or a Dodge Superbee, but as for one I might conceivably afford, I've always had a thing for Z cars

 :yeah: Very true.  It did keep Mustang alive in a hard time for sport cars.  mustang II was a huge seller for Ford.  Without this car the Fox body Stang likely would have been in peril.  140hp 4 speed stock.  2500lb car.  Just uncorking the exhaust and flipping the air cleaner lid over was a good 40hp increase.  I beat all the 305 irocs and a few of the 350 irocs on a rolling start.  It was very torquey and a tire burner.  70's were tough times and this car reflects it but it carried the torch for the future. Surely its nothing like a pre 73 musclecar.

Had one that was semi restored. Looked just like this one. 383 4 barrel 3" dual exhaust. Oh mannnnnnnnn..............after having couple kids i couldn't afford fixing and restoring so it had to go. :'( I will own 1 again very soon. :tup:

I too would not trade my "Mustang" for any other Classic Ride out there!
 She may not be as fast as the new ones, and her shocks wore out years ago but when it comes to dependability there's nothing like her. She gets us there, breaking down only when she feels like it.....have to admit, "the Dogs do complain then about the lack of shade".  :tup:
