Taurus Lawsuit
« on: March 01, 2018, 08:44:42 AM »
Well I finally received my replacement 9mm as a result of sending my Gen 1 in under the judgement. I sent in my 24/7 and it was replaced with a new Gen 2 PT111 two toned (Brown/black). Smaller capacity is my only complaint. Process took about 10 weeks. If you have any questions on the process...pm me.

I have a G2 9mm and you'll be pretty happy with it over the 24/7. I only bought it because of the reviews and the super low price. Once you get use to the long trigger its a pretty nice shooter.

Seems that Taurus has started picking up the quality on the semi autos the last 5 years.

Yes, I have heard nothing regarding a suit. My wife's carries a Taurus PT 111 PRO "millennium" in 9mm. What model(s) and years(s) are effected and what is the suit in regards to?
God Bless,
Scott

Essentially it was determined that there was a design flaw with the safety. If your model was on the list of effected guns you could return it for $200 or a replacement firearm. I opted for the replacement. I do believe the window for tacking action has closed. If you Google Taurus settlement you will find a more complete explanation. For the record, I never had an issue with the safety but opted to replace it for potential safety and liability issues.

I just did a quick search and glanced at the info. 8 Feb. 2018 was the claim cash deadline. My wife's pistol is one that is a part of the suit. I will need to make time to read more and see if it is still possible to get a replacement. I would think that any firearms purchase would be in a federal database since a background check is required and there is paperwork filed on the purchase. I don't think it would be hard to generate a list of everyone who purchased a specific firearm. Would have been nice to of received a notice in the mail as this suit has been going on for 2 years now. It bothers me when I learn of something after the fact.
God Bless,
Scott

The enhanced warranty option is good for a life time.  If you send in the defective firearm, they will either fix or replace.  At this time, certain models that we're part of the class action have no fix so they are replace only.

I had this pistol and the steel slide would peen the soft aluminum frame rails with each shot. Every time during field stripping I would have to yank hard on the slide which would shave off the peened ends of the rail. Not a good thing when your gun decides to slowly self-destruct like that! Would definitely check into any recall issues if I were you guys!
