who wants to go on a Caribou Hunt this fall?
« on: March 02, 2018, 12:22:35 PM »
Got a connection with a boat that is going to Adak Alaska for caribou. October 18th- 25th
something came up for the group that was going so it got offered to me, we currently have 5 spots available.

you are allowed to shoot 2 bulls per person, hunt sea ducks as well as fish.
we will be hunting the south end of Adak, which is only accessible by boat.
these are barren ground caribou

we will be staying on the boat, fed 3 meals a day, ect..

if anyone is interested, please get to me asap as the captain wants a full boat of 8 people to make it worth the trip.

if you have any questions please private message me and I will get back to you

phone number would be best if you are serious about this hunt

Do you fly from Anchorage to Adak then take a boat to hunt? Adak is way out there...  :yike:

Got any specifics like who's providing the boat, captain, etc?

Is this with a legit business or just a group of guys throwing together a trip?

this is extremely legit, I have gone with this crew before for blacktails on kodiak

yes you fly from anchorage to Adak, boat crew will pick us up from the airport to the boat.

the boat is well over 120 feet, and I believe it was used as a commercial fishing enforcement for the bering sea crabbing
they are strictly transporters, so they will transport you from the boat to the island to hunt
there is showers, beds, 3 good meals a day, ect

Was the Woldstad was part of the deadliest catch?

Looking at roundtrip on Alaskan air it was about 800$.  I would also be curious about the cost of the actual boat, and reasonable expectations for the hunt.

We used to call that boat Uncle Wally!
The boat was used for commercial salmon enforcement in Bristol Bay as well.
Surprised to see it decommissioned, ADF&G must have seized a nicer boat.

Here is “The” National Forest on Adak. Only hills for them to hide in, can’t imagine it would be a very tough hunt. :chuckle:

Air transporter may have a tough time getting to where this boat takes these guys.

But I just plotted their likely course out on my plotter, and it appears to be a 36.52-ish NM boat ride from the Adak harbor to the farthest SE point of Adak.  In good weather, boat will make that trip in 4-ish hours.  Seems like there might be more involved than an airport shuttle and 8 hours on the water?  :dunno:

Price was removed as the OP says the outfitter doesn't want it published. Feel free to pm the OP for that information.

And we're not really here to advertise hunts for a non-sponsoring outfitter.

they aren't just taking you to the sound end of the island and dropping you off.

you will be staying on the boat the whole time, hot showers, fed 3 meals a day, taking a skiff to the island every day, ect
