Bolt fluting group buy: LongRifles, Inc.
« on: March 04, 2018, 12:24:52 PM »
Hi All,
Longrifles inc is having a group buy (Saw it on Snipers Hide).

$25 for bolt fluting.  They do charge now for return shipping ($10.50)

Link: https://www.longriflesinc.com/collections/gunsmithing-services/products/gunsmithing-services-bolt-fluting?variant=6829403045952

Video: https://www.facebook.com/405264722901625/videos/1437111009716986/

I sent my Rem 700 bolt in, and it was back in 1 week (door to door).  Note: some are complaining about 2 weeks, so I don't know how/if they prioritize things.

If you do order, ignore the paypal (you can do it later).  Go to checkout, discount code "NEW HAAS".

How much weight did you save (or maybe it's just for show)?

Just for looks. Weight savings is minimal on bolt fluting

Hey it's a great mod if you're into cutting the handles off your toothbrush in the backcountry.

My rifle weighs over 11# (plus scope).  I feel pretty good about the 1/2 oz I saved. :chuckle:

I just like the look :IBCOOL:

EDIT: just did the weight calculator he has, and it looks like I saved 1 3/4 oz total.  I can carry 1 extra bullet now

I'd like to do the bolt on my 12+ pound rifle too, just because it looks cool.

:yeah:

Fluted bolts look much cooler than nonfluted. That alone is worth the price to many. And is good enough reason to do it.

I liked fluted bolts. Never did it over weight concerns. I have it done because it looks good. I send my actions off to Kampfeld Custom. I have him TI flute the bolt, install a "Hunter" bolt knob and open my base holes to 8/40.

Sent two bolts off last Friday. 60 bucks to have them do my tikka and Remington. I have been hearing the wait time is a little longer now but I’m sure they are getting swamped with bolts. Still an awesome deal!

And I bet Karl nearly has them back to you before the ink dries on the check, too.

I've had Karl do quite a few Rem 700 actions and bolts, as well.  Not only is he a really good guy that does great work, but his turn around time is crazy fast.

I send them, they are back super quick and he sends a note with them on what the total cost is. Great guy!
