Tikka t3 stock
« on: March 06, 2018, 10:12:27 AM »
I was thinking about upgrading the stock on my tikka T3x and was wonder if anyone had experience with the Bell and Carlson stock. Is the stock an upgrade over the factory tikka stock? Also how does the aluminum recoil lug hold up? The rifle is chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. I have had a couple Bell and Carlson for Remington’s and savage rifles. I liked them on those rifles. What is the weight difference between the factory stock and the Bell and Carlson?
Any input would be appreciated,

I went with a bc stock on my 300win. Money well spent.  The recoil lug has held strong.  Also there is a noticeable reduction in recoil vs the old crappy factory stock. The raised cheek price works well for me.   I went olive with the black webbing.  Look sharp.  Just buy one, it’s only money.

Did you end up bedding the stock or leaving? They are good looking stocks. Biggest thing is not wanting to add a lot of weight to the rifle. It is right at 8 pounds right now with scope and sling.

I did not bed it.  The only thing I has to do was sand the barrel channel a little where the barrel was touching because of the webbing paint.  Otherwise it was a tight fit to the action and free floated.    The stock does seem heavier than the factory.  I am not sure what the weight difference is

I have one on my 300 wsm. For me it was a big upgrade over the factory plastic stock. Tamed recoil down and feels way better. I think it’s about 6 ounces heavier but balances well.  :twocents:

My 2 Tikka T-3's and my Sako all have B/C stocks on them ! Yes a little heavier but it's tamed the recoil on the .300WSM and the .300 win.mag noticeably and they don't have the twisting on the forestock that you feel with the factory stock $ well spent

I've got a Tikka T3 Lite SS I'll be putting a B&C Medalist on.   Doing a doumented comparo in accuracy and wt vs the plastic fantastic stock that the factory ships.  Maybe I'll do a thread on it.

I see no need to bed mine when it's got a solid aluminum block.  Along with the fact that it shot a .28' five shot group yesterday

Right on! Thanks guys. Looks like a new stock is in my future. Think I’m going to pick up a mountain tactical bottom metal also.
