I want to buy an AR lower online , how does it work ? Do I buy it then find an FFL or do you have an FFL lined up before purchase .

Purchase it, then have your FFL e-mail them the FFL. I have several FFL's that have supplied with a copy of their FFL. I e-mail it myself or with some companies they have a option to submit (Attach) a copy of the FFL with the payment during the purchase process and I do it that way.

Yes, most that have been in business for awhile will have a current license from many/multiple FFL's and manufacturers. Check with your favorite ffl to receive. License document can be sent email if not on file.

For cheap things like lowers you are usually better off buying from shop locally. You are going to have to pay sales tax and the FFL transfer fee on top the price of the lower.

The sales tax applies for certain companies, but if you get the item from an individual from out of state, the sales tax doesn't figure in (usually).

Nope, you pay sales tax even when purchased from a private party in another state. Just went thru this last week.

On the sales tax it’s not the shops responsiblity to varify what you paid for the item so the tax is charged at what ever you tell them you paid

This. If you're ordering from an established online seller, they'll have a list on their site of dealers in your area that they already have on file.

Some sites like lowpriceguns.com act as their own FFL so you can order it from there site and pick it up and their shop (the one I mentioned is in Bellevue) and all you pay is the gun and tax, no shipping or FFL!

Incorrect, sir - WA DOR Letter SN-14 states otherwise: ..."Is the interstate transfer of a firearm from a licensed dealer subject to sales tax or
use tax?
Yes. An in-state firearms dealer involved in the transfer of a firearm from an out-ofstate
licensed firearms dealer to an unlicensed person in this state (interstate transfers)
remains responsible for collecting use tax from the transferee...."

Verified through a state tax auditor- only interstate transfers originating from a 'firearms dealer' are subject to use tax. Of course, this puts the onus of use tax directly on the WA state resident. Just don't get audited!
