Pistol Bullets

Curious what you guys like for pistol reloading. Mainly looking at Montana Gold, Hornady HAP's, Nosler's, etc. I have loaded cheaper bullets like Berrys and Xtreme. Just curious if the more expensive selection is worth it. I load for 10mm, 40, and 9mm. What do you guys like, and WHY?

For 9mm I like the 147gr xtp's and 4.7gr of hs 6.  Only shot coyotes with it sofar but my gun loves it.  For 44mag I like the 260gr gold dot deep curls for hunting round or HC Elmer Keith style 245's and long shot.

I like to use the Hornady HAP bullets for practice since they're a great match for the XTPs. I use the same charge with both bullets and get identical performance from my practice ammo and my carry ammo.

I am a fan of Hornady XTPs.  They cycle well and semiautos and have a good reputation for expansion and penetration.  I finally got to shoot some of my .45 LC 255 XTP handloads this weekend, which were a might hotter than the Buffalo Bore Keith loads I shot.

Thought I would share some recovered 147gr xtp's from my 9mm. Was shooting at barrel lids Propped up against tires. Punched through one lid but not multiple. The ones that shed the jacket also went through the tire.

I’m surprised that some of them separated. I’ve launched some of the 230gr XTPs designed for the 45 acp at over 1400fps into pretty hard targets and never had one lose a jacket.

The ones that stayed together look textbook though.

I use 2 mainly the xtps and xpb. I have shot animals with both and both have left me very happy with performance.
2 weeks ago I was with a guy that turned a huge bull bison to stone with a xtp from his 454. The bullet was recovered and looked great and for sure did its job.

I have loaded and shot several thousand Berrys & MT gold.  They both seem to make holes about 9mm wide in paper.  I almost always go with whatever is cheapest, both those brands are at least high enough quality for training and plinking.

I reload 9mm, for my steel challenge matches. For the volume I shoot, I go CHEAP! Cast, polymer coated, bullets! Blue Bullets, Missouri Bullets what ever I can get CHEAP! Would I hunt with or use these bullets for PD, HELL no! But I won't spend the money on copper jacketed, hollow points to shoot steel either, half the fun is seeing just how cheaply I can reload for! At one point I was at .08 cents a round for my 9mm and .22 was .10+ a round, when you could find it. But .22 is back in supply and the prices seem to be coming back in line.

For plinking i do like Montana gold. Just finished the first 200 out of off 500 230gr round nosed barry.

I also shoot cast in my 9mm. 159gr round nose powder coated.  Lead was all free for the most part so it's cheaper than shooting 22

I load the Xtreme bullets in all my handguns for plinking. XTP's for hunting and sell protection loads.
