Missed the seminar...got there at 11:20. Hung around for about an hour shopping and ran into an old friend. Was going to stop and visit over at the table, but ran out of time and had to leave. Lot of things going on yesterday....who all entered the contest from the board? Who was there from the Federation working the table?

Sorry I missed you ... The table, calling contest judges, etc were all my Narrows Strut Busters chapter guys (I may be prejudiced, but they are the states best volunteers) ... TN was there and amongst the contest callers (placed 3rd ... must say, there are some excellant callers in the state). I believe I met your son when scouting shortly before my first turkey hunt (believe he was a state chapter officer at the time) ... after talking with him that day, I joined the NWTF. Got to me Turkey Man, too. Lot of good people amongst this state's turkey hunters. Kind of gives one some hope for the future of the sport ....

good job fh246. I wasn't able to go for the clinic or stay for the calling, but I did manage to swing by with my wife and kids. Picked up some good info and met some good guys.

Sorry I forgot to mention FH ... the top 4 positions were separated by just a few points as it was (8 to 10) ... all very excellent callers ... it was a little noisy between the overhead vent fan, the constant annoucements, and the customers ... probably moving to an outside tent for next year so we can enjoy hiway and parking lot noises instead. Although I didn't get to call myself, it was fun MC'ing and listening to the quality of the callers. I'm sure glad I didn't have to judge this one.

Yes it was great to meet fishhunt and turkeyman and I thought Fh247 maybe a ringer the way he called
I was honored to be with some callers like that yet lucky enough to place. With the scores the way they were the very next week it would still be a toss up. I hope this is the good start to maintain this type of thing here. I truly feel that things like this will help get more and more support and activity from us all around to make turkey hunting as much a traditon as anywhere else. If we can't do it through traps, then there's more than one way to skin a cat.
TD had to buy Callie some mouth calls that day and I don't think she even takes them out at dinner
SO I hope Everyone that called Saturday and thos yet to come, come on out to our Summer Banquet and do this again....that one will be sanctioned and a chance to go to Nationals. Turkey dancer and myself will have more and more info on that one as it nears.

Great time and great people i hope to have this event every year. It was nice to see some new blood involved with the NWTF and nice to see some new callers. I have been out of the calling contest for 8 years it was always the same 5 to 7 callers got old after awhile. Now that there is some new blood i will start to call in contest more often.

The Summer Convention is Fri afternoon july 17th thru Sunday morning July 19th at Camp Delaney @ Sun Lakes State north of Ephrata and Soap Lake (or just south of Coulle City and just off of Hiway 17). Calling contest will most likely be Sat afternoon July 18th after our meeting with our "banquet" that evening. Nice to meet FH &TM as well as the other callers.
Guess I should practice up a might ... you guys are just to good ... you're likely to cause a turkey stampede!

I got lucky and didn't mess up at all. I was super happy to even place. And ya, it was splitting hairs between the top four for sure.

The adult contest was a good time but I think the kids we had did great as well. I thought that was tougher to judge then I imagined it to be. Congratulations to the brothers that took first and third. I know I am biased but if you were there, you saw some kids giving it a great effort. I know my two kids could have done better if Dad knew the rules would have allowed them to use any call
... But for a 6 and 9 year old with diaphragm calls I thought they did fantastic! They are proud to be 2nd and 4th! I will have a great time with them in the field in the future. I would like to thank all who participated young and old, the first contest I have ever seen and it was very impressive. Great job guys...and Amanda

I know I was proud of the kids too ... course Great Uncle "Dancer" is always proud of your two kids Birdman (you're doing really good by those two). Sorry it wasn't clear, but it will pay dividends in the future as good as they were sounding.

All of the youths were impressive, but I have to note that the blonde young man that called with a diaphram was exceptional. Was he 5 or 6, does anyone know? He will be a force to reckon with when he gets in high school if he sticks with it. And his smile after he called everytime...unforgettable. If that is anyone's son on here, tell him his calling is Excellent and keep at it.

Thanks Fishhunt that is my son. He is 6 and has been calling on and off for a few months, but really started to get after it in the last week or so be for the contest. He is into absolutely everything so it will be fun to see what he makes time for as he gets older. Right now it is cub scouts, baseball, 4H, fishing with Dad and Grandpa, shooting ANYTHING
, hunting ANYTHING, helping train the new pup and all other things little boys do, before crashing to sleep every night. He just read your post and thought that was pretty cool for you to say that about him
. He said "WOW" can we show Mom
? Those are his favorite icons he had me add to me reply.
He and his siter are working at it and will get better. I hope to get them out to call a bit this spring but baseball will make it tough.
