Spring Snow Goose WA
« on: March 29, 2018, 12:29:35 PM »
I'm hearing rumors floating around lately about a possible spring snow goose hunt here in WA. Can anybody confirm or deny this? I heard we could get a separate spring goose season or a split season that would close the season for a couple weeks and give us those couple weeks in February or March. What have you all heard????

I have heard the same and it was proposed for the regs. I'm hoping it gets approved. limit would still be 6 during February 16 to the 27, white geese only.

Wow.  That would be THREE spring seasons for hunting.  That would be great!

I forgot to add that it is for goose management area 1. You can always get lucky in zone 2 for late goose and kill snows or specks

They tried to do it last season, but I don't think everything came together.  I know I was called on this last year and asked about it.  They were looking for specific dates.  If it holds true they might close the first two weeks in December and those days would be added to February.  You might see a two week break and then get to hunt for two weeks again.  The challenge as always will be access to the fields they want to sit in.

That is definitely the pain of snow goose hunting in WA.

Are you talking about a later winter snow goose season or a true spring season on northbound snow geese.

Midwest spring snow goose season is to try and lower the population on there breeding ground in the artic do to the fact that the flock has grown so large that it is decimating there breeding areas.

The western flock of snow geese has not reached that stage yet, so I doubt there would be a true spring season here for quite awhile.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Just a late season, not a true spring season on northbound geese.
