Idaho Harvest Stats 2017
« on: March 19, 2018, 08:54:59 AM »
Pretty dismal numbers to say the least...I hunted it, we did well, but the numbers aren’t lying. The weather this year hopefully helped out with recruitment.

We had opportunities but nothing mature enough to harvest.

Fawn survival is way up over last year and the calf survival rate is up 8 percent, those are at least somewhat promising numbers. I'd expect last years winter to be a big impact on deer numbers for at least another 4 years. My concern with elk is the reaction to 2 heavy snow years by IDFG to create more elk hunts later in the year to help push elk off of farmland on their migration out of the high country. Last season was the first season of them, so this fall will show the real effects of them on the herds.

You have still got mountains not full of Seattle urbanites there. That's better than the Cascades so I'm still going.

Most of them where I go are from the Midwest, mainly east of the Mississippi, but I do understand your point.
