Pressure signs? I'm new to reloading

I would love one that looked like that, i have about the same primer issues, but i have extractor marks on mine also. I think yours look fine.

Primer looks good.  No flattening.

24" barrel?  I'd say you are approaching max.  Probably can't go much if any more powder.

BTW - I ran that load thru Quickload and it came up with 2,748 fps (from 24" barrel) at a pressure of 59,380 psi.

Without knowing the exact H20 capacity of your case and OAL, it is more of a guess, but I thru in the default H20 capacity and standard OAL of 3.34"

Agree. Good starting point. Learn to watch for real pressure signs (bolt lift, flattened primers, ejector polishing etc..) . primers cratering is not always a sign of over pressure. Move up slowly, watch for pressure signs 👍and accuracy curves. Doing so, you will never be able to post a pic of a broken gun or worse yet!

I go by the book and watch closely for your pressure signs.  If any doubt work up slowly, and be cognitive of what you are doing.  Mistakes do happen and usually don't end well.

Primer looks fine.  I look for stiff bolt or brass swipe or flattened primer - ie square edges.   Quickliad is a good indicator too

hey Hammer, those the CE raptor brass bullets? how do you like? with or without tips?

Yes. CEB 370gr Raptor Non-Con tipped. BC doesn't improve much with the tip, as if it really matters with a .458 diameter bullet. The tips helped a bunch with feeding from the box Mag due to their huge hollow point. Super accurate! Yorke got me interested in the "Hammer Bullets" I'm shooting them in .375, 7mm & .224. They are working on .458's. I'm looking forward to shooting some.

Here are a few more examples.  The hornady case is factory; the winchesters are handloads.  Even at 1-2 grains less, most of the primers out of this gun are somewhat 'flat'.  Could also be the primer seating too, maybe.  Bolt lift is not stiff at all.
