Budget upgrades

Just want some ideas on how I could upgrade my budget compound. I have a bear cruiser X package deal with a whisker rest and a basic trophy ridge three pin sight. Should I upgrade my strings and cables? Any info is much appreciated! I’m new to archery.

Whats your budget? Maybe look into either trading towards or selling and upgrading the whole thing? That is what I did last summer and love my new setup

If you are  new to archery then give us some more details...  what's the budget, your group size, how far is your effective range (and describe what that means)

I started off with a whisker biscuit, but now shoot a ripcord fall away rest. WB break down over time and work best with small fletchings. Probably not an issue at vitals for a 30 yard shot...

If you think you will stick to archery save and get a good limb driver fall away rest like vaportrail etc. Sight black gold or spot hogg. Put good lasting accessories on it and when you get to the point you upgrade your bow you have everything to just switch over.

As for string it's one of the first things I do to most bows. A good set of strings is a great investment. Lots of companies make them. Wooden, vaportrail, compliment etc.

Only have around $100 wondering if it’s worth putting nicer stuff on the bow or just use it till I can afford to completely upgrade. I’m shooting an awful 4 in group most of the time at 20yds. I’m also have a hard time with my peep sight. It’s held in at three side and I just can’t get a clear sight picture. So thinking of a different one.

I would bet that a trip to the local pro shop for a new rest, and peep adjustment is in order. 2c

That's strange because they normally take great care of everyone. Some times group size has a lot to do with practice, so making recommendations is more troublesome.

I had a WB on my first bow and after it got wore out I quit getting consistent groups. If your shooting is up to snuff I'd say get some kind of drop rest. If you don't know then make sure you come to the club and shoot a bunch!

If you joined a club was it silver arrow?

If it were me, I’d get a new drop away rest and hit the pro shop for a solid tune up and get your peep site adjusted properly.. I used to shoot a WB and it’s wasnt pretty. I now have a Ripcord drop away and am much more consistent.. good luck man! This gets very addictive and a bit expensive $$$ Lol...

I suggest with your new information you go to Riverside again. Ill bet that you can purchase one from them for close to your budget. It has been my experience that you may pay a little more to purchase an accessory from them, but they will mount it up and get you set up with it properly. Im 99% certain that they set up anything you purchase from them as part of the purchase price.
