Lathrop n sons boots?
« on: March 25, 2018, 06:57:11 PM »
In the market for a new pair of good boots, the crispi's are on my radar but I have wide feet and I don't see any wide sizes.  I was wondering if anyone on here paid for the $150 fitting that lathrop n sons offers??  Seems like a lot of money to get a good fit, if they put it towards your purchase I could understand but that's a stiff fee to find out you don't like the fit.  Thoughts or experience with these??

I’ve never used their service but after listening to multiple podcasts about them and listening to the brothers I would give them a call and talk to them about how you hunt, what your feet are like, etc. A phone call is cheap.

I just read a thread about this system on rocslide, it's really informative.  I see a huge hurtle though, one guys has 900 invested into his boots.  The customer service sounds second to none, and they sound like they know exactly what they are doing to put you in the right boot.  I didn't even realize that they sometimes put you in other brands of boots, interesting.

I did the custom fit system program. Couldn’t be any happier with my boots. Actually used the same chart for hiking boots and training shoes as well.

Yes it is expensive.

Crispi boots are available in wide width. I have a pair of 12 1 /2 wide and love them. I had to look at a number of sites because the availability of wides and half sizes was different at each site. Ended up ordering on Blackovis.com. They have the best selection and prices.

holy crap! im glad my mendels off amazon for 159 fit like a glove and have no break in time. I wuld never spend that kind of money on a boot that im going to walk though in a season anyway. check that, I did once drink the kool aid on the super hunter backpacker gear and dropped 400 + on boots. walked through them in a year too. I put hundreds of miles on boots in a season.

find a decent set of hikers for under 200 that don't need break in and buy new ones every year. "hunting" gear is usually sub par to the hiking/mountaineering stuff that's out there.

Are there any local stores around that carry crispi boots, with my feet I almost have to try boots on first.  I’ve worn sizes from 8 to 9 depending on the brand.

join amazon prime. you could have a parade of boots sent to your door and send back the ones you don't like.

Blackovis will have a similar return/exchange program.

Trophyhunt it sounds like your feet are a major issue to enjoying the woods, I would get on the horn with Lathrop and sons... you don't have to buy anything to talk with them but you may end up spending some coin and solving your problem.
