Now what...
« on: April 13, 2018, 08:07:40 AM »
I didn't want to hijack the Multiseason thread, but had a question.  I'm fairly new to hunting WA.  This will be my 4th season.  Somehow I lucked out and drew both multi-season deer and elk.  I have hunted west side one year and then the last two I have been hunting east side.  I'm a bow hunter, but have hunted all 3 seasons with my two boys (one is a muzzy hunter and the other modern).  My question is this...do I switch back to West side this year since I have the multiseason tag or do I stay East Side in the areas I already know well from archery?  I feel like if I went East Side and didn't get it done during archery my options are severely limited at that point chasing spikes around with the rest of the crowds.

I’d hunt west side so you can kill a bull. Put in for east side tags.

Don't I have to pick a side before putting in for tags?

No, you only need to purchase your multi-season tag first. Then you can apply for permits on either side, and you can hunt general seasons on both sides.

If you purchase your multiseason before you apply for draw tags than you can apply for any hunts with any weapon. And once you buy your multiseason elk tag you can hunt both sides of the state during any open season and with the weapon that corresponds with that season

My wife and dad both had multiseason elk tags last year.  It worked out great.  They put in for eastside hunts.  They didn't draw, but we spent tons of time hunting the westside and they both got bulls.

Your multiseason tag allows you to hunt on both sides of the mountains.

You don't have mutli-season until your purchase the tag. Which to do so, since you already have purchased a modern firearm tag, you need to take the tag you have and turn it in, and then purchase the multi-season tag, which will be $180.
