What is your preffered camo pattern for duck hunting? Is it important to have a camo gun?

I am not much of a duck hunter. But Max-4 seems to be a good one.

advantage max-4 is my favorite and no you dont need a camo gun i have used wood stocks with matte barrels and black synthetic with matte barrels dont really like a blued barrel though because if the sun hits the barrel just right it can flare birds

thanks for the response. I am picking up a super nova tomorow and am deciding if the max-4 or realtree is worth the extra 100 dollars from the black finish

I would go with a black one.  Save the money.  They all look cool at first, but the camo is wearing off on all my Benelli's.  I hunt a lot.  My next one will be black.  By the time the duck notices a black gun, it is already folded up.

Anything that has that marsh brown tone to it w/ some other shapes to break your outline. Gun camo IMO isn't worth paying for..... not gonna hurt but not gonna translate into more birds.

i have a synthetic black gun and it has killed birds. If you dont move your gun around it shouldnt be a problem either way

Hey I use Avery camo check out the new marsh grass or buckbrush! its great stuff if you dont like that you can try a company here in washington called "m2d" camo....i have never used it but it looks amazing. i havent used it because i have all my camo already...and as far as a camo gun...for ducks not needed but if your going to hunt geese with a ground blind that you cant put your gun it " avery power hunter" your going to want a camo gun...let me know if you have any other waterfowl hunting questions i love to help out a fellow hunter!!

Thanks guys, i Just picked up the Benelli super nova in max-4. I love it. The easiest break down possible and it seems pretty hardy. Right out of the box i shot a line of trap and improved over my last visit. I haven;t gotten the chance to use the 3.5 mag shells but i can;t wait

I would pick up a box of 3.5" black cloud.  They should work well at the 27 yard line.  A nice handicap load.

I use "DuckBlind" by MossyOak.

typically ducks are not as hard to bring in as geese, but the better you can hide the more luck you'll have with any species, IMO.

As previously said, its not as much about the camo pattern as much as it is about movement. Think about when we were kids wearing old army camo...still killed ducks.
