To make the water look like cotton candy requires a slow shutter speed...right ? How slow ?  And everything in focus a small shutter speed ??

more of a seep than a waterfall, South of Dayton - My Son and I doing some ice climbing.

Elksnout:  In landscape shots like this in low light, everything in focus requires a wide open f-stop.  I ALWAYS use a tripod and in this case f/13 focused about 8-10 feet in front of me.  Apature priority and let the camera pick the shutter speed. In this case it was measured in seconds.

I am bumping this old thread because I am looking for waterfalls in Washington figured I'd start with this thread and ask a bout 2 on here

wapiti hunter2 can you tell me where those falls are and are they reasonably easy to reach?

and Elkman where are those ones if you dont mind telling me?

anyone else that has any idea of waterfalls I can get to...as in get under or get in or on rocks within the spray zone, I would much appreciate hearing about them...have a little project I am working on finally....

Runamuk,  Thanks for bumping this up.  The waterfalls I shot are easy to get to if you are in Tasmania, Australia.  Sorry.  The way I shot them though should serve anyone well who wants to get great shots.

Runamuk, there's at least one waterfall I know that someone can get under in the Queets RF.  It is about a mile and a half down a washed out road.
Also, there are lots in Olympic National Park.  I think the Enchanted Valley has several hundred, and maybe close to a thousand by some people's counts.  That is about a 13 mile hike though.

yeah I dont want to hike 13 miles with equipment    just thought I'd ask around I know there are lots in the Olympics many are just not real easy access.....

There's a couple I can think of real close to a road.  The one is maybe only about 6-8 feet high and kind of wide.  It is on the Sitkum River along FS Rd 29, about 12 miles from Forks.  I'll see if I can find any pictures. I don't blame you for not wanting to drag equipment everywhere.  The only 'quipment I like to drag around is the steel.
