Congrats on a great start to what I hope is a fantastic year. Love the Ruby pics.

This week a father brought his daughter for a bear hunt. Kayla wanted to get a bear with the hounds and Brian and Anthony tried to focus on finding her a good sized bear. On the first day they chased a big bear that got into some big thick brushy country and they could never get close to him. On the third day they chased a medium sized bear all day that they didn't catch either. It was turning into a tough hunt and rain during the week only compounded the situation. Finally on the 5th day of the hunt they got onto another big bear. Often times these bigger bear will not tree, you have to get in on them and shoot them on the ground and that was the case with this bear. He went into some big country with no roads so they headed in on foot, the bear stopped often to fight and chase hounds, several times they almost got the bear and one time Kayla was just starting to squeeze the trigger when the bear broke and ran again. By now it was late afternoon, they had been chasing this bear for over 8 hours, and had gone 8 or 9 miles on foot in very rugged country, they were all worn out, but getting close again, they could see the dogs all around a big fir with lots of limbs, they were trying to spot the bear and suddenly he came running out trying to catch one of the hounds, the dogs scattered, Kayla said "I see him", Brian said "shoot him", there wasn't time to get a rest, Kayla aimed off-hand and pulled the trigger, the bear wanted to run but tumbled down the steep hillside until coming to rest at a flatter spot. Brian told me that 90% of the men he has guided probably would not have made it to this bear and then she nailed him on the ground chasing hounds with one shot. When they skinned the bear it had no fat at all, it was very skinny, but the hide measured a little over 6 feet, a very nice bear. What an awesome hunt, congrats to Kayla!

Good job Kayla! Reminds me of my brothers daughter crossing canyons in the dark with us at 6 years old.

Big boar and sow on trail cam, I think this trail cam will have to be retired after this season, photos not too good anymore.
