I've owned 2 trucks. First was a 92 Toyota 4 banger. Ran it to 285,000 before I sold it. Ran like a top. Bought a 2008 Silverado 5.3 with 23,000 on it, and I now have almost 180,000 on it, with zero problems. Like has been said, they all make good ones, and they all make turds. So far I've been lucky.

I don't have much experience with different trucks, have only had Chevy's. My 2002 Silverado with the 5.3 has over 150,000 miles and I've only had to replace the fuel pump, alternator a couple times, the brakes, and shocks. That's in 16 1/2 years. Towed quite a bit with it too. So I can't imagine a much better track record. However if I ever buy another truck I might get a Ford just to try something different.

Nice truck but you should have gotten MGM color

They couldn’t find one available with the right options when I was buying, and I wasn’t in a position to be able to wait for them to build me one.

I always chuckle when guys say how great their truck has been, then list all the stuff they've had to replace. The 2 current Toyotas in my driveway have a combined 360k on them and the newer of the two is 18 years old. I know the complete vehicle history from both the original owners. Brakes, batteries, plugs & wires is all they've had replaced. My previous Toyota was purchased at 100k and sold at 220k. One A-arm bushing was the only other thing it ever needed.

A fuel pump and an alternator in over 16 years is excessive you think? I hear of expensive things going out like transmissions and engines on newer trucks, so I thought my luck was pretty good. But again I don't have much to compare to as I've not owned anything else.

A fuel pump and 2 alternators might not be excessive, but it's not as good as zero fuel pumps and zero alternators. The cost for those repairs isn't much. The headache of possibly being broke down somewhere is worth a lot.

Chev makes a fancy PU.  Dodge/Ram makes a truck.  Ford cant decide.
Ya...as long as you don't mind not being able to steer. Those Dodges are a hell of a truck once you modify the crap out of them and undo everything Dodge did.
