Tundras eat gas! Chevys need 3 blocks to turn around!  Buy a Ford and spend money on guns!

  :yeah:

I will never understand how guys can put any faith into Ford Motor Company after the 6.0 and 6.4.
They screwed a LOT of people.
Think that was more people than Chevy screwed over with the 2006-2009 5.3?  :dunno:
After what I went through with that I’ll never buy another new gm.

Oil consumption?  or?

I've ran hundreds of GM fleet rigs, mostly 5.3 and some 6.0. Only issues we've had are cheap interiors, paint, an a couple flex plates have cracked.

I have a 2008 5.3 and its approaching 180k with zero issues. It does use some oil though.

Have you looked into the Range Tuner? It turns the AFM off and will stop using oil and fouling plugs. $200 on Amazon and worth every penny. Many of the 5.3l motors have this problem and this seems to solve the problem in most cases. It did for me.

I haven't. So far it hasn't really been a problem. My mechanic did the last tune up and didn't mention anything about fouled plugs.

Yes oil consumption, In mine it lead to fouled plugs that I replaced numerous times (gm wouldn’t warranty) and finally a dead #7 hole. Gm would not warranty it at that point either. Had to go to regional warranty rep for gm and they told me that I didn’t buy the truck from the dealer I had been working with.  there was literally zero record of me having bought a gm truck or ever had it in that dealers. They stuck to that story even after I produced the paperwork from the day I bought it brand new, then they offered to pay 40% of the engine rebuild. It was a headache that went on for 3 years...

I drive a 2015 chevy 5.3 daily. Less than 50k miles the brakes failed, needed a new vacuum pump. Uses oil like crazy. No reason a brand new truck in this day and age should use oil like that....2 quarts in between oil changes.

All trucks have their issues but the made in mexico hot garbage chevy has been producing recently wouldn't even be on my radar for a new purchase

No complaints with my 2003 Tacoma. In last 15 years I had to replace a window motor, alternator, and intake manifold gasket a couple months ago. It has never once not started for me or stranded me.

My tacoma will fit wall tent wood stove all camping gear, chainsaw cooler on the hitch extender and has never failed me either. 161k on it. Best option all around!!
