Incredibly lucky again this year to make it 3 years in a row on spot and stalk Pronghorn. Goat numbers were way down and hunter numbers were up but was able to make it happen on my 3rd stalk this year

Thats a fact

To be honest hunting these Goats. how patient you need to be has affected my Elk hunting. I used to be super aggressive chasing Bulls and these buggers have made me too patient

I need to get back chasing them hard like I used too. Starting in 3 weeks:)

Thanks!  When I first started hunting them 5 years ago if someone would have told me I would kill 3 in row I would have told them they were full of *censored*. That fist year I bet I stalked 20 goats and never even got drawn back, Im talking from 15 yards to 60 yards, busted every time. Frustrating animals to hunt but fun as heck

That's awesome. I estimate I'm successful on 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 stalks with a rifle. I can't imagine what my ratio would be with a bow but I'd probably be happy with your 1 in 20.

Do you have the wings of angels?

On that rocky of ground I cannot imagine getting within 50 yards.  How long of a shot is typical for you? 

(For reference, 50-yards is my absolute limit.)

I shot this Buck at 58 yards as he stood up from his bed. It was impossible to get any closer. For me the perfect distance on a Goat is around 40. Any closer and I really have trouble getting drawn. For me the 2 most important things I look for in a stalk are a Buck by himself and topo/terrain features. Without topo its borderline impossble. Ill pass up stalks on Bucks all day just waiting for one thats actually stalkable

I see. So this is basically open country mule deer hunting, with a bow, for a smaller and much faster target.
