Westside Binocular meet-up?
« on: April 13, 2018, 10:14:42 AM »
After a really helpful and fun side-by-side comparison of binoculars at Cabela's last month, and since I'm fairly certain I'm going to demo the Maven C1s, I've been pondering an idea...

Would there be any interest in putting together a huntwa binocular try-out meetup? A combination social-gathering and chance for people to peer through all sorts of glass? With all the different great glass options out there and surely hunt wa members have a sizeable selection of binoculars between us all, might be a cool opportunity. The logistics might be difficult and I suppose bringing a bunch of expensive goods together in one place may present some concerns, but I also figured between a bunch of hunters there'd be incentive to avoid any funny business...

I've never done a meetup with you folks on here, but I know some geographical segments do get together on here, so I figured I'd just throw this out as an idea in case it's a decent one. Plus, it could be an opportunity to make connections.

Could take place at Cabela's/BassPro to increase binocular options available and keep it at a public, secure place?

Any interest? Bad idea? Has anything similar occurred in the past?

I would love to try out binos side by side in real world conditions. I have 2005 10X42 els that I have wonder if they need up grading. I would love to compare them side by side to Vortex razor 10x42, new 10x42 els and Leica. Of course mine would be there for guys to look through. It would be cool for someone to host on a Sunday afternoon and do a potluck. I have 17 acres in Eatonville but it has no utilities yet just an old barn.

Pretty sure the el’s glass hasn’t changed since 2015. It would give a chance to those with lower end glass to clean out there bank accounts.  :chuckle:

I agree a real world conditions would be ideal - but presented the retailer idea simply as a safe option. I just don't have the means to host! If someone else can, I suspect everyone would like that idea.

I wouldn't be concerned about safety this community is fairly small on this form relatively speaking.
