They are not tampons, they are manpons.  Helps keep things clean down there.

LOL... I didn't for years till a guy showed me that they help with a knife not slipping out of bloody hands.  He didn't whack himself but showed me the difference in grip with and without.  That's my story and I'm sticking with it  ;)

There is risk of zoonotic diseases with wild game.  A precaution is smart.  Cleanup easier to.  I sometimes do sometimes don't personally.  Putting a dip in with blood, urine, poop intestines etc on hand isn't great.

Three game bags, dry sack, havalon and a few blades and a sheet of tyvek
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Outdoor edge with an extra blade or two
Kestrel Skinner
Some paracord
Caribou game bags appropriate for the size of critter
That's about it....

On thing that I don't get is putting hot quarters into contractor bags? I realize people don't want to end up with blood on their back. But unless the quarters have cooled it seems like a good way to hold in all the heat. I suppose most people aren't going far with the quarters like that, but still. I'm always worried about bone sour. I always put my quarters straight into game bags off the animal and then set them in the shade to "tack" up before putting them in my pack and I rarely get any blood seeping through.

Another thing that makes me laugh is seeing people pack out the lower leg and hoof. I always leave it on until I drop the quarter into the pack and then cut it off then because theyre easier to deal with until that point. But I just don't get packing the extra weight.  :dunno:

Allen backcountry game bags
Havalon baracuta with 3 extra blades and 2 saw blades
50' para cord
Contractor bag
Tags and license
2 Nitril gloves (no tampons)
This is what I carry for an elk hunt, I adjust for smaller game. I also carry a SOL emergency blanket to lay quarters on but not specifically for that purpose.
