Any central Wa success?
« on: April 22, 2018, 09:38:59 AM »
Hit the hills pretty hard in a couple of different places in 335 and 336. I saw little to no sign after several miles of hiking and calling every once in a while. Anybody else having any luck or at least see some birds on public land?

I know of 3 Yakima county birds taken on public land.

I went and got my truck this weekend and played Friday and Saturday. Seen birds in 4 different gmu's.

Been hunting central and have heard/seen birds. This last weekend they were a lot more hunters then on opener and Saturday was really windy so it didn't help. Sunday was perfect and I heard 4ish birds gobbling but they were just a little too far away. They're there and it seems like they are just starting to get really into mating season.

Been going out a few days before class. Birds have been talking in the roost then shut up as soon as they hit the ground. Lots of real hens for them to choose from still.

was a really nice morning saturday, almost no wind and didn't hear a single bird all morning. I'm going to start to go outside of my normal hunting spot to see if I can find anything.

A buddy and I were in 335 and 328 for 3 days last week. Super quiet and we only saw 2 birds...on the road of course LOL

Covered 14 miles on Tuesday and saw plenty of elk, deer, and bear...but not a single turkey.

They're tough to find over there when they aren't talkin'

Sometimes that’s what it takes to get on them. That’s what we did last season was went a couple miles the other direction. Then the bird I ended up shooting was in my normal area long hike back to the truck carrying a bird but so worth it.
